Two crashes leave two people seriously injured in Burgenland

Two traffic crashes in Burgenland left two people seriously injured, ORF reported. The incidents occurred on Sunday afternoon near Rudersdorf and in Illmitz.
On the S7 Fürstenfeld expressway near the Rudersdorf interchange in Jennersdorf district, a car struck an impact attenuator for an unknown reason. One person suffered serious injuries and was flown to Oberwart Clinic by the Christophorus 16 emergency medical helicopter after being stabilised at the scene. Rescue workers took the other, less seriously injured person to hospital.
The affected section of the S7 was closed during the operation. Firefighters from Rudersdorf and Deutsch Kaltenbrunn recovered the vehicle. The operation ended after about an hour.
In Illmitz in Neusiedl am See district, a car left Seestraße and crashed into a vineyard. The seriously injured driver was flown by emergency medical helicopter to a hospital in Eisenstadt.
