ORF reported that a 59-year-old man from Lower Austria and his 37-year-old son were injured in a crash on Sunday while riding a three-wheeled moped on the Katschberg Road.
The father was riding towards Seeboden with his son as a passenger at about 1.15 p.m. In a long left-hand bend, the vehicle apparently hit the kerb and guardrail on the right, possibly because of a riding error, before skidding.
The men and the vehicle slid about 70 metres along the guardrail. The driver lost his helmet during an impact, and both men fell onto the road shortly before the moped came to a stop.
The father suffered serious injuries and was flown by the RK1 rescue helicopter to Klagenfurt Hospital. His son was taken by ambulance to Spittal an der Drau Hospital with injuries of undetermined severity. Police said the moped sustained only minor damage.
