18-year-old pedestrian injured in Lienz rear-end crash

An 18-year-old pedestrian was injured in a rear-end collision involving two cars at a pedestrian crossing in Lienz, East Tyrol, ORF reported.

The woman was pushing her bicycle along a pavement towards the city centre shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday and was preparing to cross the road. An 18-year-old driver stopped before the crossing to let her pass.

A 20-year-old driver travelling behind the stopped car then crashed into its rear for reasons that remain unclear. The impact pushed the stationary car forward, hitting the pedestrian on the crossing.

The pedestrian and an 18-year-old passenger in the stopped car suffered injuries of undetermined severity. After receiving first aid at the scene, the pedestrian was taken to Lienz Hospital.
