Mountain biker suffers serious head injuries in Leisach fall

A 51-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries after falling from her mountain bike on the Drau cycle path in Leisach, in the Lienz district, on Saturday afternoon, ORF reported. She was flown by emergency medical helicopter to the Innsbruck University Clinic.
The woman was travelling with her husband from Innichen towards Lienz. The couple, who are from Italy, were riding mountain bikes.
In Leisach, the woman fell for an unknown reason and hit her head on the asphalt. She was not wearing a helmet at the time.
After providing initial medical treatment, the emergency helicopter Christophorus 7 took her to the Innsbruck University Clinic. The cycle path was briefly closed while she was being treated.
