Carinthia opens final 173 teaching posts this year

Carinthia’s education directorate has advertised 173 teaching posts in the third and final recruitment round of the year, ORF’s Carinthia service reported on Friday.

Of the positions, 151 are in state schools, including primary, middle, special-needs and pre-vocational schools. The remaining 22 are at federal schools such as grammar schools and vocational schools.

School insiders told ORF that not all of the posts are genuinely new. Some are formal re-advertisements of fixed-term positions whose appointments have already been decided.

The education directorate’s list shows that significantly more teachers are being sought in Upper Carinthia than in Lower Carinthia.

Teachers can apply until next Friday. Students who have progressed well through their bachelor’s degree or are already studying for a master’s degree are also eligible to apply.

The directorate is explicitly seeking career changers as well. It said there were particularly good job opportunities in middle and higher-level schools in Upper Carinthia.
