Carinthia, Flixbus, road safety

Officials stopped a fully occupied Czech Flixbus coach on the Tauernautobahn A10 in Carinthia on Tuesday after finding serious technical defects, ORF reported. The bus was barred from continuing.

The coach was inspected during technical checks at the Kellerberg traffic control point. Inspectors found six defects classified as posing an imminent danger, involving the service and parking brakes as well as four tyres.

The defects meant the bus could not be used on public roads because of an immediate risk to road safety. The driver was prohibited from continuing, and the vehicle’s number plates and registration certificate were confiscated.

A security deposit was collected to secure the administrative penalty proceedings. Both the vehicle’s registered owner and the driver will be reported.

The company provided the passengers with a replacement bus.
