Lower Austria, road accidents, Wiener Neudorf

A 69-year-old driver crashed into the outdoor dining area of a fast-food restaurant in Wiener Neudorf in Mödling district on Saturday afternoon, ORF reported. Police believe he may have confused the accelerator and brake pedals. Three people suffered minor injuries.

The driver was reportedly leaving the car park at about 4 p.m. when he apparently pressed the accelerator while reversing. The car moved forward, mounted a kerb and crashed into the restaurant’s outdoor dining area.

The driver suffered cuts from shattered glass, while his passenger was also slightly injured. A person who was in the outdoor dining area at the time was likewise slightly injured.

The Wiener Neudorf volunteer fire brigade removed the vehicle from the outdoor dining area. Firefighters, emergency medical services and an emergency doctor attended the scene.
