Man confesses to fatal knife attack in Vienna’s Meidling district

A 51-year-old man has confessed to killing a friend in Vienna’s Meidling district after a dispute, ORF reported. Police said he attacked the victim with a knife in his apartment.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries to the neck, managed to reach the street on Wednesday afternoon. He died shortly afterwards despite attempts by an emergency doctor to resuscitate him.

Police detained the Spanish man near the scene during an immediate search. He was agitated and apparently intoxicated, and his clothes had blood on them. Police said he gave contradictory answers during questioning before confessing in a later interview. A knife handle was found nearby.
