More than 42% of new cars registered in Upper Austria in September were fully electric, the highest share among Austria’s federal states, according to energy councillor Markus Achleitner of the ÖVP. ORF reported the figures.

The share rose from about one-third in June to more than 40% in September. Burgenland followed with 40%, while Vorarlberg recorded 36%.

Using electric cars as electricity storage will be a topic at the Haus und Bau trade fair in Ried im Innkreis in early November. With compatible technology, cars can store electricity and feed it back later, for example to use solar power generated on a homeowner’s roof. Both the vehicle and the charging equipment must support the function.
