Brazilian pilot Mário Jorge Dias de Oliveira Filho plans to stop in Salzburg on Friday during his round-the-world flight, ORF reports. He intends to fly from Schönhagen, south of Berlin, to Salzburg in about one and a half to two hours.

Oliveira Filho is travelling in a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza F33A, built in the United States in 1993. The brightly painted aircraft, named Brasileirinho, bears Brazil’s national colours and serves as his transport and working aircraft for the expedition, which he is documenting in videos and posts.

The planned journey covers about 45,000 kilometres across five continents. Project materials and media reports give different estimates for the number of countries, ranging from 45 to more than 50. Weather, winds, permits and technical conditions will help determine the route and schedule.

The flight began on July 20 in Campo Grande, in Brazil’s Mato Grosso do Sul state. After travelling through Brazil, the aircraft flew north via the Caribbean to the United States and Canada. Stops included Grenada, the Dominican Republic, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Florida, the Bahamas, New Jersey, Vermont, Montreal, Iqaluit and Goose Bay. Before his planned Salzburg stop, Oliveira Filho’s most recent leg ended in Schönhagen.
