An 85-year-old man was injured after a car struck him at a pedestrian crossing in Gamlitz on Tuesday afternoon, ORF reports. Police said the driver may have been affected by the low sun.
The collision happened on the B69 in Gamlitz, in the Leibnitz district. A 58-year-old woman was driving from Ehrenhausen towards the town centre when the man began crossing the road. She apparently did not see him and struck him with her car, causing him to fall onto the road.
Emergency medical staff treated the man at the scene before an ambulance took him to the South-West Styria Hospital in Wagna. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known. Alcohol tests on both people involved were negative.
