Police seize BMW after 19-year-old clocked at 224 km/h on A1

A 19-year-old probationary licence holder was stopped after travelling at 224 km/h on the A1 motorway in Upper Austria on Tuesday evening, ORF reported. Police seized his BMW provisionally and took his licence.

An Autobahn police patrol stopped the driver at about 9 p.m. in the municipality of Schörfling am Attersee, in Vöcklabruck district. A laser measurement had recorded a speed of more than 200 km/h.

The driver is from Salzburg-Umgebung district. Police said the vehicle was provisionally seized on the order of the district authority. They could not confirm whether the car’s owner was the 19-year-old’s father.
