About 72.5 percent of foreign nationals of working age in Vorarlberg were employed in 2025, above the national rate of 68.3 percent, ORF reports, citing a new state-by-state report from the Austrian Integration Fund. The employment rate among Austrian citizens in Vorarlberg was about 78 percent.

Employment varied among foreign nationals. Around eight in 10 people from other EU countries, EFTA states and the United Kingdom were employed, a rate slightly above that of Austrian citizens. Among people from other countries, nearly two-thirds were employed. Foreign nationals also faced higher unemployment than Austrian citizens, although both groups’ rates were below their respective national averages.

The report found that foreign nationals in dependent employment had lower median annual net earnings in Vorarlberg than Austrian citizens: 32,500 euros compared with 36,900 euros. That amounted to 88.1 percent of the income received by Austrian citizens.

The statistical number of children per woman in Vorarlberg fell from about 1.6 to 1.4 over 10 years. In 2025, the figure was about 1.8 for women born abroad and 1.3 for women born in Austria. The comparison is based on birthplace, not citizenship, and both figures were lower than a decade earlier.
