A 71-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with an e-bike rider in Bärnbach on Thursday morning, ORF reported. She fell and was left unconscious.

The crash happened on the outskirts of the town in the Voitsberg district. The 60-year-old rider is believed to have collided with the pedestrian while riding on the pavement. Red Cross teams from Voitsberg-Köflach and an emergency doctor treated the woman before she was flown to a hospital in Graz. The Red Cross said a severe traumatic brain injury was suspected. The e-bike rider sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Graz. Police are investigating the exact circumstances.

Another cyclist was injured in a collision with a car in Graz’s Wetzelsdorf district on Thursday morning. The 32-year-old was crossing a cycle crossing on Kärntner Straße when she was apparently not seen by a 46-year-old driver. She was taken to Graz’s accident hospital with injuries of undetermined severity.

Police are also seeking witnesses to a crash involving a car and a racing cyclist in Kumberg, in the Graz-Umgebung district, on 14 October. A 77-year-old driver from the district was heading towards Eggersdorf at about 8.20am and tried to turn left near a petrol station. She is believed to have failed to see the 62-year-old cyclist coming from Faßlberg. Both were conscious but in shock.

As neither person can remember how the crash happened and traffic was heavy at the location, police believe others may have seen it and are asking witnesses to come forward.
