Burgenland, business, Lenzing

Lenzing will keep its plant in Heiligenkreuz, southern Burgenland, open until the first quarter of 2027, ORF reported, citing confirmation from a company spokesperson. The fibre manufacturer had previously planned to close the site at the end of 2026.

About 285 people work at the plant. Lenzing is in talks with around 30 interested parties about a possible takeover, providing them with detailed information and inviting offers. The company expects to clarify the site’s future by the end of 2026.

The additional time will allow existing stocks to be processed and production to be transferred to Lenzing’s other sites. The company said the aim is to maintain uninterrupted deliveries to customers.
