A kitchen fire in an 80-year-old woman’s Lienz apartment sent her and two neighbours to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, ORF reported. The fire started after she left fat heating on an electric stove to answer a phone call.
The fire broke out at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday. When the woman noticed that the electrical fuse had tripped, she returned to the kitchen and found a fire. She called for help, and two men aged 19 and 25 who live in the same apartment building came to assist.
The men tried to put out the fire with three extinguishers but left the apartment as smoke increased. The Lienz fire brigade, which had been alerted, quickly brought the blaze under control. Ambulance crews took all three to Lienz District Hospital.
