Teen skier falls 30 metres after crashing through safety net

A 14-year-old skier from the United Kingdom was seriously injured after falling about 30 metres into rocky terrain during training at Hintertux Glacier in Tyrol on Wednesday, ORF reported.

The teenager was skiing with a training group on red run three at about 11.30 a.m. when he fell on a left-hand turn. Travelling at high speed, he broke through a safety net.

He suffered serious injuries to his back and face. After receiving first aid from the ski patrol, he was flown by emergency helicopter to hospital in Innsbruck.
