Innsbruck, transport, Tyrol

Car ownership in Innsbruck fell slightly last year, with 431 cars per 1,000 residents, according to an analysis by the VCÖ transport club, reported by ORF Tirol.

That was one fewer car per 1,000 residents than the year before. Innsbruck was the only Austrian state capital to record a decline in car ownership.

Car numbers rose in every other Tyrolean district, with the strongest increase in the Außerfern district. The district of Reutte had Tyrol’s highest car ownership rate, with 614 cars per 1,000 residents.

Except for Vienna, an urban area with an extensive public transport network, Tyrol and Vorarlberg had considerably lower car ownership rates than the federal states farther east.
