Two men were injured when a car carrying three young men crashed into the central barrier on the A2 motorway in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district early on Sunday, ORF reported.
The car came to rest on its roof between the first and second lanes. The crash happened at about 5:40 a.m.; police said they did not know why the car hit the barrier.
Two of the men were outside the vehicle when emergency crews arrived. Firefighters freed the third from the wreckage. The two injured men were taken to Oberwart Hospital in Burgenland, while the third was unhurt. All three were from Vienna and alcohol tests were negative.
Hartberg Fire Brigade attended with 18 responders and four vehicles. The Red Cross sent five vehicles, and an emergency doctor’s vehicle also responded. Police said the A2 was fully closed towards Vienna for about 90 minutes.
