Police continue search after possible big cat sighting in Bavaria

Police and the Erding district authority have found no further clues in the search for a possible wild cat near Munich Airport, BR reported. The search is continuing.

The animal’s species and whereabouts remain unknown after a reported sighting in the municipality of Oberding, in Erding district. Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer, a spokesperson for the district authority, said there was still no information about where the animal might be.

Authorities have not confirmed that the animal was a big cat such as a puma. Analysis of available images is ongoing, and officials say it is not yet clear whether they show a puma, another kind of cat or a different animal.

The district authority has urged residents to remain cautious while the investigation continues. It advises keeping small pets and dogs on a leash, watching the surrounding area and reporting information directly to Erding Police Station.
