A 65-year-old truck driver has died two weeks after his vehicle caught fire in Achenkirch, in Tyrol’s Schwaz district, ORF reported. Police said on Wednesday that he died from his injuries at a clinic in Murnau.

The fire broke out in the parked tractor unit of a semi-trailer truck at about 2.15am on 20 September. The driver, who was from Bulgaria, was in the cab. By the time firefighters from Achenkirch and Achental arrived, the tractor unit was fully ablaze.

The driver managed to get out but suffered severe burns. He was flown to the Murnau clinic, where he later died. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
