A participant in a wedding convoy fired a shot from a vehicle on the B11 near Geretsried on Sunday evening, prompting an investigation into suspected traffic endangerment, coercion and weapons-law violations, BR reported.

Police said the six-vehicle convoy was travelling from the A95 via federal highway 11a towards Wolfratshausen before turning onto the B11 towards Geretsried at about 6.30 p.m. Witnesses reported that vehicles turned around on the highway and slowed other traffic. Convoy members honked their horns, and some looked out through sunroofs while the vehicles were moving.

Several police patrols stopped the convoy in Geretsried. Officers found that the group was on its way to a wedding celebration. Blank-firing pistols and, in some cases, ammunition were found in two vehicles and seized. Those involved did not have the required firearms permits.

Police are investigating suspected traffic endangerment, coercion and violations of weapons laws. The relevant driving licence and weapons authorities will also be notified. Police said tensions briefly rose during the stop. After the inspection and a reminder of traffic rules, the wedding party continued its journey.
