Two wheelchair users escape kitchen fire in Steinberg

A woman and a man in wheelchairs escaped a house fire in Steinberg on Monday morning, ORF reported. The fire broke out in the kitchen in the Oberpullendorf district.

The two residents had left the building before emergency crews arrived. They were taken to a clinic in Oberpullendorf for medical assessment.

Firefighters from Steinberg, Dörfl and Oberpullendorf, along with the Red Cross, responded. The fire was quickly extinguished. Crews then ventilated the rooms and used a thermal imaging camera to check for possible embers. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
