Tyrol opens vote for three contenders in Austria’s best-place search
Tyroleans can vote for the Fotschertal valley, Rifflsee lake or Kufstein Fortress to represent the region in Austria’s search for its most beautiful place, ORF reports.
Voting opens on October 2 at 7 p.m. and closes on October 6 at 11:59 p.m. The public vote will decide which contender goes to the National Day show in Vienna and competes for the title of Austria’s most beautiful place. Calls and text messages cost 50 cents.
The Fotschertal, a 15-kilometre side valley of the Sellrain, is known for its wetlands and moor below the Potsdamer Hut. Vote by calling or texting 0901 05 909 04.
Rifflsee, above St Leonhard in the Pitztal, is the largest lake in the Ötztal Alps. The lake lies among rugged mountains, some still covered by glaciers. The nearby Kaunergrat region is home to the largest ibex colony in the Eastern Alps. Vote by calling or texting 0901 05 909 05.
Kufstein Fortress, in the centre of the district capital, is one of Tyrol’s most significant medieval structures. Long contested between Tyrol and Bavaria, it is now also a memorial to peace. The Heroes’ Organ sounds at the fortress every day. Vote by calling or texting 0901 05 909 06.
