Police arrest man after four alleged robberies in Liesing

A 22-year-old man is in custody after allegedly carrying out four robberies in Liesing between July and August 2026, ORF reported. The targets were two petrol stations, a supermarket and a post office.

Police arrested him on 25 August, immediately after the post office robbery. He allegedly followed the same pattern each time, entering the businesses masked and armed with a pistol shortly before closing and demanding cash.

Vienna’s State Criminal Police Office robbery investigation unit led the inquiry. A search of the man’s home uncovered clothing and a weapon believed to have been used in the robberies, as well as most of the stolen money.

The man, who is a Bosnian and Herzegovinian citizen, initially refused to make a statement but later confessed, police said. He cited financial problems as his motive.
