Oliver Bergauer takes over as VSV managing director

Oliver Bergauer has been appointed managing director of EC VSV, the ice hockey club announced on Tuesday, ORF reported. Bergauer was a longtime manager at the Kleine Zeitung media outlet.

The club said Bergauer would take charge of its day-to-day operations. His management experience and connections in business, media and politics would help strengthen the club’s stability and build a sustainable future, it said.

Bergauer also has a personal connection to ice hockey, having worked as a coach. He said the club was an important part of Villach, the region and Carinthian sport, and that he wanted to bring clear structures, reliability and open dialogue to the role.

VSV chairman Manfred Herzog said Bergauer could connect different fields, take responsibility and represent the club well. The club has faced particular challenges in recent weeks.
