15-year-old moped rider injured in crash in St. Martin im Sulmtal

A 15-year-old moped rider was injured in a collision with a car in St. Martin im Sulmtal on Monday afternoon, ORF reported. The teenager was flown to hospital by rescue helicopter.
The crash happened at about 4.50pm on a municipal road in Bergla, near an intersection. A 62-year-old driver from Carinthia’s Wolfsberg district was travelling towards the junction when his car collided with the moped, ridden by a teenager from Deutschlandsberg district.
After receiving initial treatment from the Austrian Red Cross and an emergency doctor, the teenager was flown by Christophorus 17 to the children’s clinic in Graz with injuries of undetermined severity. The car driver was not hurt.
A breath test on the driver was negative. Both vehicles sustained damage, some of it considerable. Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash.
