Thilo Behrmann wins two U18 European tennis titles

Thilo Behrmann has won both the singles and doubles titles at the U18 European Tennis Championships in Oberpullendorf, ORF reported.

The 18-year-old from the Thiem Academy beat fellow Austrian Florian Zimmer 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in a closely contested singles final on Sunday. The pair had won the doubles title together on Saturday.

The tournament marked the end of Behrmann’s junior career. From next year, he will compete exclusively in senior tennis. This summer, he played his first tournaments on the ITF Futures Tour.

Behrmann, who was born in Germany and has lived in Oberpullendorf for four years, recently reached the semi-finals of the junior competition at the US Open in New York. He also reached the quarter-finals of the Junior French Open in June and is currently ranked third in the junior world rankings.
