Lumitech invests two million euros in Jennersdorf production

LED development and manufacturing company Lumitech has invested around two million euros in its production facility in Jennersdorf over recent months, ORF reported. The investment includes a fully automated production robot.

The new robotic arm can produce around 160 LED lights per hour. Managing Director Stefan Tasch said the automated production line was a commitment to the Jennersdorf location and would help maintain product quality while keeping production costs under control.

Tasch said automation would not lead to job cuts among the company’s roughly 65 employees. A large part of production had previously taken place at a facility in Hungary, but that step is now being moved to Jennersdorf. Staff numbers in Hungary will not be reduced, he said, as the company’s growth means manual production will continue there.

Lumitech made the investment despite difficult economic conditions and rising insolvencies. Tasch said the company’s success in its market had enabled it to offset those pressures, but added that further government measures would be needed in the future.

Lumitech’s subsidiary Kiteo is also performing well. It sells general lighting, including products for schools and hospitals, and employs a further 12 people. Managing Director Michael Paukowits said the company had found a niche with its lighting solutions, including products designed to resemble natural sunlight.

Kiteo has also invested in a new showroom. The subsidiary produces up to 30,000 LED lights a year, and said its order situation was improving.
