An e-scooter rider was seriously injured when a car hit him while turning in Klagenfurt late Monday evening, ORF reported.
The 22-year-old Klagenfurt resident was riding along the left-hand pavement beside Völkermarkter Straße in the direction of the city centre. Police said he crossed Südring at a pedestrian crossing despite a red light.
A 32-year-old Klagenfurt man driving towards the city on Völkermarkter Straße had waited for the traffic lights to turn green before turning left towards Südring. He saw the e-scooter rider too late, and the vehicles collided head-on.
The rider was thrown onto the car’s windscreen and suffered serious injuries. Emergency services took him to Klagenfurt Hospital.
