Police seek information on girl and mother in abduction case

Police in Lower Austria are seeking information about a 53-year-old woman and her underage daughter in a suspected child abduction case, ORF reported on Monday. Investigators are also looking into suspected mistreatment and neglect of a minor.

The girl was last staying in a hospital and has been missing from there since August 21, according to a statement from the Lower Austrian State Police Directorate.

“Based on the investigation so far, it can be assumed that the two are staying together at one location,” police said. The woman does not have a registered residence in Austria.

Photographs of the woman and her daughter were released on Monday on the orders of the Krems public prosecutor’s office. No further details were disclosed.
