Express buses to cut Flachgau journeys from school start

Two new express bus services will reduce journey times from the Flachgau region to Salzburg from the start of the school year, ORF reports. The routes from Mattsee and Berndorf will run via Salzburg Central Station to the Nonntal district.

The direct routes are expected to cut the journey from Mattsee to the central station to about 32 minutes, down from 50. They will also connect the new state service centre to the bus network.

Service 121X will run hourly between Mattsee, Seeham, Obertrum and Salzburg. From Monday to Friday, there will be 15 services in each direction, with 13 on Saturdays. From Salzburg Nord, the buses will travel via Bahnhofstraße to the central station, stop at the state service centre and continue to Petersbrunnstraße in the city centre.

Service 131X will run hourly between Berndorf and Salzburg. From Monday to Saturday, 15 services will operate in each direction. From Eugendorf, the buses will travel to the central station and continue to Petersbrunnstraße.

“Commuters, particularly on the heavily used routes from Mattsee and Berndorf that are also burdened by car traffic, will benefit from these faster and more direct connections to Salzburg,” Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll of the Austrian People’s Party said. He added that the two express routes would also directly connect the new state service centre and improve public access to government services.
