Austrian Cup, FC Wacker Innsbruck, WSG Tirol

FC Wacker Innsbruck and WSG Tirol reached the last 16 of the Austrian Cup on Saturday, with Wacker overturning a two goal deficit to beat second division leaders Blau Weiss Linz 3 2, ORF reported. WSG Tirol won 4 0 away to Burgenland League club SV Leithaprodersdorf.

Wacker fell behind in Linz after Dario Kreiker scored in the fifth minute, and Romeo Vucic doubled the hosts’ lead after a pass from Alem Pasic. Blau Weiss Linz continued to dominate and had a chance to extend its advantage shortly after half time.

Wacker substitute Yanis Guermouche reduced the deficit to 2 1 in the 73rd minute. Four minutes later, Luis Gstrein headed in Raphael Galle’s cross to level the match. Another substitute, Rami Tekir, completed the comeback in the 85th minute by scoring directly from a corner.

On Saturday at training, I scored exactly the same goal. I wanted to take the risk and it worked. It became a dream goal, Tekir said.

WSG Tirol took the lead against Leithaprodersdorf in the 13th minute through new signing Moritz Wels. He added a second goal just over 20 minutes later. Michael Olakigbe made it 3 0 in the 51st minute, and Nikolai Baden Frederiksen completed the scoring in the 87th minute.

WSG Tirol controlled the match throughout. Leithaprodersdorf had knocked Admira out in the first round, but could not break through the WSG defence or contain the Austrian Bundesliga club’s finishing.
