Firefighters used a water hose to recover a photographer’s drone from the top of a 54-metre church tower in the municipality of Mutters, Tyrol, on Thursday, ORF reported.
The drone became caught on the rooster at the highest point of the tower around midday, according to Martin Tanzer, commander of the Mutters fire brigade. A telescopic platform from the Seefeld fire brigade reached 42 metres, leaving the firefighters 12 metres below the drone. They used the pressure of the water jet to dislodge it.
The area around the church tower was closed because it was unclear where the drone would fall. The drone was damaged beyond recovery, although Tanzer said it had not been particularly expensive.
The photographer had been taking panoramic images on behalf of the municipality. Tanzer said the drone flight had been authorised.
Eight firefighters from Mutters and two from Seefeld took part in the operation, which ended after about two hours.
