Police search for two escaped inmates from Bavarian youth prison

Police are searching for two inmates who escaped from the Laufen-Lebenau youth prison in Berchtesgadener Land, BR reported. A large operation is under way, including a helicopter, according to a police spokesperson.

Police have not released descriptions of the two men. The spokesperson said they were not serious offenders. It was also not yet known how they escaped.

The Laufen-Lebenau prison mainly holds male juveniles and young adults in pretrial detention or serving youth sentences after conviction.
