A2 motorway, Carinthia, traffic accident

A 70-year-old driver was injured after her car left the road and rolled over several times on the A2 motorway near Farchern in Carinthia on Friday, ORF reported. Four other occupants suffered minor injuries.

The woman was travelling towards Italy at about 2 p.m. when the car veered off the motorway shortly before the Farchern underpass for an unknown reason and struck the guardrail. At the Farchern service turnaround, it hit a drainage shaft, tearing off the right front tyre. The vehicle then struck the guardrail again and rolled over several times.

The driver suffered injuries of undetermined severity. After receiving emergency medical treatment, she was flown by the C11 rescue helicopter to Klagenfurt Hospital. The four other occupants were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Poggersdorf and Grafenstein fire brigades responded with four vehicles and about 30 emergency personnel.
