Man arrested after knife attack at Bludenz asylum accommodation

A 44 year old Somali man allegedly attacked and injured a 20 year old Syrian national with a knife at an asylum accommodation facility in Bludenz early Thursday, ORF reported. The suspected attacker was arrested.

According to police, the attack happened at about 1.40 a.m. for reasons that remain unknown. The man allegedly injured the Syrian national in the upper body before locking himself in his room. Police later arrested him.

The injured man received initial treatment from an emergency doctor before being taken to a nearby hospital. He was discharged the following day.

The 44 year old remains in police custody. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the attack.
