Four injured after overtaking manoeuvre causes head-on crash

Four people were injured in a head-on collision on the Drautal Road near Irschen on Wednesday, ORF reported. A 67-year-old driver had attempted to overtake a lorry when he collided with an oncoming car.
The accident happened at about 12.30 p.m. on a rural section of the B100. The man from East Tyrol was driving from Spittal towards Oberdrauburg when he moved out to pass the lorry near Potschling.
The oncoming car was driven by a 41-year-old woman from the Spittal district. Her 22-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son were also in the vehicle.
All four occupants suffered injuries of unspecified severity. The 67-year-old driver and the 22-year-old woman were taken by ambulance to the district hospital in Lienz. The 41-year-old and her son were flown by the C7 emergency helicopter to Klagenfurt Hospital.
Police, rescue services and volunteer firefighters from Kötschach-Mauthen, Oberdrauburg, Irschen, Simmerlach and Dellach responded with eight vehicles and 57 firefighters.
