Salzburg suspended 133 students from classes in 2025

Salzburg suspended 133 students from classes in 2025 for violence, threats or property damage, according to ORF. The figure did not increase compared with the previous year.

Nationwide, however, the number of suspensions rose significantly. Students with serious behavioural problems can be excluded from classes for up to four weeks.

Suspensions are most common at special schools, pre-vocational schools and middle schools.

Mandatory support programme to begin this autumn

From autumn, students temporarily suspended from classes will receive mandatory support under a new programme. The suspension support will include lessons and social measures, the Education Ministry said.
