The Swiss Federal Council will ask Parliament for an additional 970 million francs to secure delivery dates for air defence procurements under the 2026 Armed Forces Dispatch, SRF reported on Wednesday.

The government said the request was prompted by a worsening threat situation and long delivery times for military equipment. The funding is possible because of improved revenue forecasts, driven by higher receipts from corporate income tax, it said.

The Federal Council also plans to spend a further 100 million francs over the coming years to strengthen the army’s self-protection at more than 60 military locations.
