Network operators Tennet and Bayernwerk have revised plans for a 24-kilometre high-voltage line between Tann in the Rottal-Inn district and Pirach in the Altötting district. The changes affect 11 municipalities, BR reports, including plans to move several pylons and route the line farther from homes in Mehring.

Residents and local authorities have objected to the route, citing its proximity to homes, impacts on nature and the landscape, and possible restrictions on future building areas. The revised plans also adjust access routes, work areas along the line and plans for the Burghausen substation.

The affected municipalities are Reischach, Emmerting, Marktl, Stammham, Tann-Reut, Wurmannsquick, Burgkirchen, Zeilarn, Haiming, Burghausen and Neuötting.

The amended documents will be available online from the Government of Upper Bavaria starting October 29. People affected can submit objections through December 14. Objections already filed remain valid.

The project would replace the existing 220-kilovolt line with a 380-kilovolt line. It is intended primarily to secure electricity supplies to Bavaria’s Chemical Triangle and carry more power from renewable sources. The project was established in law in 2015, detailed planning began in 2021, and the approval process started in June 2025.
