A cellar fire in a single-family house in the municipality of St. Margarethen in the Murtal district was extinguished after around 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon, ORF reported.
Firefighters were called to the property at around 5.55 p.m. The cause of the fire was not known. A total of 38 firefighters from St. Margarethen and St. Lorenzen, along with the Red Cross and police, responded.
Fire crews wearing heavy breathing apparatus entered the smoke-filled cellar to tackle the flames. Pressurised ventilation was used to clear the affected area of smoke and improve visibility and safety. The fire was then successfully brought under control.
