A teacher at a secondary school in Reutte has been dismissed after allegations of sexual conduct with a minor, ORF Tirol reported. The public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into whether the teacher exploited his position of authority over the student.

The school’s education authority confirmed that the teacher had been suspended and was later dismissed, but declined to give a reason. The prosecutor’s office said the alleged conduct involved a student who was over 14 but not yet an adult. It said the acts were reportedly consensual.

Under Austrian law, exploiting a position of authority to engage in a sexual act with a minor, or to have the minor perform one, is a criminal offence punishable by up to three years in prison. The investigation is ongoing. It is not known whether other students may be affected, and the teacher is presumed innocent.
