The municipality of Wattens has suspended its approval for a planned WSG Tirol stadium because the club has not provided written confirmation that the project is financed, ORF Tirol reported.

The municipal council had given preliminary approval in spring, on the condition that funding was secured. Mayor Lukas Schmied said the municipality had not received written confirmation, and the council voted unanimously to suspend its approval. The municipality owns the land where the stadium is planned.

The municipality said construction could begin immediately once written confirmation is provided. WSG Tirol said it had been informed of the decision and accepted it. The club declined to comment in detail but told ORF Tirol it was confident financing was only a matter of time and that discussions were now with the banks.

Work at the construction site has been halted since early September. WSG Tirol will not play in the new stadium during the second half of the Bundesliga season, contrary to the original plan.
