Salzburg’s monuments office will not have a new head before May, ORF Salzburg reported, as long-serving chief Eva Hody prepares to return to Switzerland.
Hody, who has served as Salzburg’s provincial conservator for 14 years, will take up a new job in Zurich on February 1. She will remain on leave from the Austrian Federal Monuments Office until at least April 30, creating a three-month transition period.
Born in Zurich in 1966, Hody worked for many years at the office in Vienna before leading its Salzburg branch from 2012. She was also a member of the expert commission for the preservation of Salzburg’s old town.
The Federal Monuments Office says the position will be filled no earlier than May 1. It plans to advertise the role in February and schedule the application deadline and interviews to allow for as seamless a handover as possible.
