Vienna Airport received an email containing an abstract threat against four flights on Thursday, ORF reported. Standard security protocols were followed, and the airport said flight operations were not affected.
A Wizz Air Airbus A321 flying from Milan-Malpensa to Warsaw made an unscheduled stop in Vienna after a threat was received in Poland, police spokesperson Stefan Loidl said. No suspicious objects were found after the plane landed, and it later left the airport.
Finnair also reported a bomb threat against a flight from Helsinki to Vienna. The flight, operated by Jettime, landed as scheduled.
Other flights across Europe were affected. A Finnair plane travelling from Helsinki to Rome was escorted by the Italian Air Force to its destination and landed at Rome-Fiumicino. Bulgarian reports said three planes made unscheduled landings because of bomb threats. A flight from Dublin to Rome landed at the French military airfield at Evreux, about 100 kilometres northwest of Paris, according to the French prime minister’s office.
