Search efforts resumed on Thursday for a 62-year-old woman who went missing while riding an e-bike near the Heisenalm alpine pasture in Kirchdorf, in the Kitzbühel district. The search overnight was unsuccessful, ORF reported.

The woman last spoke by phone with her daughter shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, saying she had lost her way. Her daughter later told police that her mother sounded tearful. The woman could not be reached after the call, and her daughter contacted police when she did not return home.

A large-scale search began that evening, with mountain rescue teams, firefighters, search dogs and alpine police combing the area. Police drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras were also used.

A helicopter from Salzburg was due to assist but could not take off because of the weather. Rescuers also tried to locate the woman through her mobile phone, but the alpine terrain left them with too large an area to search.

The search was called off at about 11.45 p.m. without success and resumed at 6.30 a.m. on Thursday.
