The 2027 Schrammel.Klang.Festival will bring a “Carnival turned upside down” to Litschau from July 9 to 18, ORF reports. Festival director Zeno Stanek said the event around Herrensee lake would welcome “the joy of life” rather than bid pleasure farewell.

The 21st festival will turn Litschau into a stage for music, dance and artistic experimentation. Belgian street music ensemble De Propere Fanfare, from Ghent, will open the festival on July 9.

The next day, Trio Lepschi and the Original Wiener Praterkasperl will perform at the Herrenseetheater. The Schrammel Path, with concerts and picnic huts, will then open around the lake.

The opening weekend’s evening programme features Adi Hirschal and the Brennenden Herzen with “Weana Bleamerln,” followed by Belle Fin and Vienna world music band Baba Yaga. Singer-songwriter Ernst Molden will close the weekend on Sunday.

The second weekend begins on July 16 with Roland Neuwirth, Monika Kutter and Barbara Laister-Ebner performing as Roland Neuwirth and the Zitherpartie. The following day’s matinee will feature the Neuklangschrammeln with “Bronner tanzt Kreisler.” Evening performances include Vorstadtkollektiv, Tini Kainrath and Peter Havlicek.

The festival’s closing concert on July 18 will honour composer and singer Hermann Leopoldi, who would have turned 140 in 2028. Birgit Denk and Die Novaks will pay tribute to him and his collaborators with “Schnucki.”
