Licensed local radio stations and regional television broadcasters will receive more money from Switzerland’s broadcasting fee revenue from 2027, SRF reported. The Federal Council has set their share at 7 percent, bringing the total to about 95 million francs.
The change will provide around 9 million francs in additional funding. Parliament set a range of 6 to 8 percent when it approved amendments to the Radio and Television Act at the end of 2025.
The new rules take effect on January 1, 2027. The Federal Council has also set funding for general media support for 2027 and 2028. Institutions providing training and further education for journalists will receive 1.5 million francs in each year.
