A career fair at the University of Klagenfurt brought students and employers together on Wednesday, with organisations from nursing to IT seeking contacts and potential staff, ORF reported.

Students said meeting employers in person could make a stronger impression than sending a CV online. Student Aleksandr Ershov said direct conversations helped both sides get to know each other. Anna-Maria Piwonka said gaining a first job could be difficult without practical experience and encouraged students to take internships.

Employers said demand for qualified staff remained strong in some fields. Michaela Waldhauser of KABEG said the organisation was receiving more applications and had better opportunities to select candidates. Technology company Dynatrace was also looking for young talent and said good training was essential.

University rector Ada Pellert said direct exchanges between universities and companies were valuable, particularly in helping young people see their prospects. ORF Kärnten, the broadcaster’s Carinthia service, also took part. Editor Stefanie Schöffmann said visitors showed strong interest in radio and television work.
